I've decided to start a segment called partially useless info
where I will blog about things I observe
In hopes that I blog more often
partially useless info of the week

...there is always one part of my drive to work that is much more crowded than others. Thus making me drive slower. Which always gets me to work at the awkward 4 minutes after mark no matter how early or late I leave...Guaranteed....everytime!

Who is a terrible blogger?

and yet again no pictures
I decided to just sit back and enjoy my holidays this year
which I did tremendously..
but again...I am a terrible blogger..please forgive me

Thanksgiving was a blast and a half
loads of AMAZING food
lots of fun with family
I got to help/learn to cook from my mother-in-law
(which everything she cooks is amazing)
SUPER FUN

Then it was a whirlwind of finals, working
oh and did I mention celebrating
3 years of marriage!!
hip-hip-hoorah

Now I am an official employee at FotoFly
not just free labor :)
so for the winter break I've been working
CRAZY hours
my husband has been missing me in my absence
poor guy

Christmas Eve with the Jarvises
got to play with my nieces and nephew
eat Austrian food
chat about life :)

Christmas came..and Thomas ended up working in the morning
So I spent the morning with my family
eating my dad's wonderful breakfast
and dominating my lil bro and sis (two years in a row..might I add)
in the Gingerbread house making contest.
My parents..mainly my mom then went way overboard with presents
I got...a new camera bag (the bag of my dreams!), a 50mm f.1/8 lens, a flash, and a new tv
I think I was on the verge of crying the entire night after that with joy
still kind of am

Then to conclude the month of December
we had a party/meeting for my work where
I got to hang out with all of my friends/coworkers
and got one of the best secret santa gifts ever
NEW TOMS!!!

a final semester...and to whatever this year brings.

I absolutely love Thanksgiving

It really makes me so sad that once Halloween is over

Christmas stuff comes out in stores

..nice try but you can't skip Thanksgiving that way

I am grateful for a truck load of things

..but here are just a few

.my hunky hubby, which could be in a list all on it's own.

.my family both immediate, extended, and just absorbed into.

.my old friends who despite the fact that life for us keeps changing, they are still there for me.

.my new friends that still think I'm cool for being a married lady.

.that my college career will soon be over.

.that I don't go to the Y.

.for being involved in ASUU.

.the people in ASUU both in my board and in ECab.

.my new job at FotoFly.

.the people that work at FotoFly.

.that I will soon have a dog....hopefully.

.living in a place where I can go biking, hiking, swimming, exploring anytime.

.that my church is right next to where I live.

.for my church.

.that I completely know that I hate wearing heels.

.but know that I will probably still wear them sometimes.

.the hot hot sun in the summa time.

.for my TOMS shoes that now have holes in them.

.a warm comfortable bed.

.a healthy mind and body.

.that I don't have to shovel or mow the lawn or rake leaves.

.for my nieces and nephew (who are the most adorable kids ever!).

.that we now have a car that we can rely on to work (thank you Mike & Jeni).

.that I have found a career that I love.

.that I found a career I can always get better and grow in.

Thomas and I went to Kansas City for Fall Break

Thomas is studying hard for the GMAT

and has a cool opportunity to possibly be offered a full time job!!

I am going to start interning at Fotofly this fall! So excited!

Also did I mention Thomas and I will both be graduating

It's unreal.

So much to get done before that time though.

Which also means little blogging time

We have had lots of celebrations here lately

First off was a while go...which was my brother's graduation

He actually graduated in December

but my mom made him walk in June.

Then we celebrated my Dad's 50th birthday in Vegas!!

We ate lots of good food

and saw the Hoover Dam

have some great road trip stories!

It was fun!

Next celebration was PAC-12 Day!

It was a great day to be a Ute thats for sure!

ASUU had a tent where we provided

free balloons, ice cream, and t-shirts

It was tons of fun!

and last but not least..

Independence Day!

Thomas and I went on a hike up Ensign Peak

Where we ran into a hurd of missionaries on their P-Day

Then we finished off our day with some BBQ and fireworks

up in Midway

life is good..

I LIVE!!!!!!

I am officially done with the summer semester

which is why I haven't posted for the past six weeks

It's been a crazy ride

but I am alive

and so excited to start summer!

This weekend my family is going to Vegas

for my Dad's 50th birthday

..now I know some of you might be going Vegas..for a birthday..

that can only lead to bad things..

oh contrary

We will live out Vegas the Casson way..

which consists of lots and lots of.....

FOOD!

We plan to hit almost every buffet we can find.

so I guess we will be doing bad things

like eating too much

oh and since Jaime told me about the Deal or No Deal game

I plan to play it at least once while I am there

Sadly Thomas will be left behind for this adventure

He is unfortunately not done with this summer semester

and has class on Saturday :(

Do you ever find work just dragging itself along? The hours seem to feel much longer than they really should?

Well for those of you that can turn your speakers volume up a little pass office appropriate I have got the remedy for you.

It is called the PG Comedy station on Pandora.

Thank you to Devin who introduced me to it.

Work has been awesome since I've listened to it

I've got Bill Cosby, Brian Regan, Jeff Foxworthy and many more homies

helping me get through the day.

My mood has gotten dramatically better. And I find myself not as stressed...

A word of caution...somtimes they do swear

So listening to it with kids around

might not be the best..

Before I continue on this post I was sent a correction that the crossbow I mentioned

is not a crossbow but just a regular bow...

Thomas and I were crazy busy last semester

so we declared a War on Sanity..

which was 3 full days of....wait for it...NOTHING!

thats right folks

we took work off work in order to do this

and it was totally worth it

television marathons, movies, video games, & sleeping

is all we did in those three days

The logic behind 3 days is because

day one: you just can't defeat sanity in one day

day two: you get to actually do all of the nothing stuff you wanted to do on day one but never got to

day three: you get sick of doing nothing so much you want to get productive

Sadly though...what we wanted to feel on day three hasn't hit us yet

still in day two mode

but now I am back at work..

I honestly could have done a whole week on doing nothing

but sadly life doesn't allow that much indulgence at one time.

and I am done with the spring semester!!

I have attempted to do it 5 times in the pass two days

and all I have to show is a doodle of me running up a mountain.

Maybe I don't have it in me anymore to do any school work

Maybe it's because our house hasn't been cleaned since Spring Break

Maybe it's because I'm stuck at work

Maybe I am just making excuses

One way or another paper

I will conquer you like the mountain in my doodle

Lots to catch up on..

Jake graduated with his MBA at BYU last friday! We are so excited for him.

I will admit it was a little odd being on cougar territory..

I couldn't help but show my Ute pride :)

Big news...I got Marketing Director for next year

I got sworn in last night

Now Thomas and I are just doing our last sprint of the Spring semester with finals!

So I have now officially hit that time of the semester where my mind starts to shut down completely.

Of course it's always a week or so before my final projects are due..

and I also start to not care about school at all

I've missed so many classes this week

it's ridiculous...

I am already SUPER behind on so many projects.

But in two weeks the spring semester is OVER!!

YAHOOO!!

I also find out if I make Marketing Director for ASUU next year

next Wednesday

This day started out pretty terrible ..but before I talk about today let me recap a little of yesterday Yesterday I went on this fantastic photo shoot with Julie The weather was perfect and I took some great shots with my digital and film camera... I seriously was so excited to go develop today ...and I haven't been excited to develop anything in a while Today I go in and develop my film, when I unroll my film after I developed it.. I find the entire roll empty 37 spots....gone I did however get a few to come out on another roll of film. First initial reaction...was not so good. I don't think I've cursed so much in my life Then I almost bursted into tears... As I go to my professor he takes pity on me and says I can do my digital prints.. which made me EXTREMELY relieved, but I am still bummed that none of the film came out it would have looked awesome!!! Then I feel my phone a buzzing and it's my sister she is begging (more like asking politely but she was getting desperate) to help her put an entire presentation together and burn it on a DVD she at that point tried a bunch of times throughout the week with no success and it was due tonight since my entire roll was ruined and I had nothing to develop onto paper... ..I had plenty of time to go help ...blessing in disguise? most definitely! I feel much better now that I helped someone else in a crisis Still bummed about it but I have moved on and am just going to make my digital prints kick butt watch out folks!

I am LOVIN the weather today
I sat outside for 30 minutes just letting the sun warm my face
Now that it's starting to get warm
(not consistently since it will probably snow this week but now since the season is finally thinking about it
I am ready to triathlon training!!
This summer I'll be training by myself, but I think that I'll still be ok
I made my schedule for May and I am officially stoked!!

I am super excited. Hopefully I will be able to stick to this with my busy summer school schedule..on some days I will be at school from 9am - 7pm for two classes!

Spring Break was last week

Sadly we didn't go anywhere on vacation.

it wasn't as relaxing as we would have hoped

And of course life kind of slapped us in the face

when we got back to school...

Soo the dry spell may continue my friends.

But keep holding on because once this semester is over..

there is SUMMER SEMESTER! haha

I feel like everyone I know that is married has a dog
even though I know this is a total lie
it reminds me of when I was little and how I wanted Jelly shoes really bad
and I felt that EVERYBODY had them but me
which was technically true
but once I finally got my mom to buy me one pair, they came out wth colored ones

Anyways, even though we can't get a dog for a while
I am still brainstorming dogs I would want
Although I will probably walk into the pound and the first dog to wimper at me
I am taking home
but still it makes me happy to think that this is a possibility

One thing I know I don't want: a small dog

can't stand them

Pitbull:

Now I know these dogs have a bad rep

but my parent's pitbull is the sweetest thing in the entire world

extremely dumb

but thats why we love her

and I can't help but wanting a pitbull just like her

Boxer:

These are good family dogs

they really bond with the family and they are big dogs! (which I like)

and known to be a good guard dog.

and they aren't the cutest of dogs but they are unique in look

Lab:

You can't go wrong with a Lab

loyal, reliable, sweet, cute

but I feel like so many people get labs...

and I have this thing about being unique.

Australian Shepherd dog:

Best all around good dog

and it's fluffy!

I am also a fan that they can have that salt and pepper look

They are easy to train and very loveable

but oh dear the shedding!

Siberian Husky!:

This is by far the dog I really really want

It's fluffy, and they can have blue eyes and it's big!

Super intelligent and affectionate yet independent

but then again the shedding!

Like extremely faster than the pace I was at before.

It reminds me that I always turn the music down when I exit the freeway

I apologize for that last post

I was going through some sort of mental breakdown

at that point if someone said to me I need this done by tomorrow....

I would have rolled over and played dead to not have to deal with it

Just one of those days

I'm over it now and realize that I can't handle everything

and I shouldn't expect so much out of me

Don't get me wrong, it's not like I didn't expect feeling overwhelmed

theres lots and LOTS to do

but I simply have to get over it

and handle it like I should

because the world is not ending if I don't get to the SL Art Center til Wednesday

or if my battery on my camera dies because I forgot to turn it off

or if I am behind on a project

Side Note: Celebrated my mom's birthday all weekend! Happy Birthday!!!!

WARNING!!!

I am probably going to be ranting from this point on...

starting now...

I hate how busy I am

and I hate the fact that when I get free time all I do is waste my time on the internet

then I get mad that I wasted all my time doing something thats both not fun and not rewarding

Today, I didn't go to school...

I stayed home doing ASUU stuff from home so no one would bother me

I just decided I didn't want to go to school

Already I'm sick of school.

But of course I feel guilty that I skipped class, even though I didn't miss anything!!

GGGAAAHHH!

Then for the hour or two that I had to myself, all I did was sit and play Robot Unicorn

TOTALLY lame!

It wasn't even that fun after a while which is what bugs me

Then I realized I actually should have been doing stuff the entire time that I'm behind on

Also I think I almost had a panic attack today

not good...

whew....

I promise I'm ok

Seriously I am

Although I think I would be better

if it were 70 degrees outside

Since everyone is blogging about their Valentine's Day I figured I would too..

...just following the crowd

We didn't do much for Valentine's Day

Since this was a big investment we had a low key day

Thomas went to a doctors appointment

I went to school and ASUU

We made dinner for the Durrants who just had their baby girl!!

Then we enjoyed dinner out

Thomas went to sleep at 8

I went to the library til 11

and that was our Valentine's Day

Sadly there are also no pictures of the day

But I figured that we get Valentine's Day more than once a year

so life is good :)

My good friend and director Ata is running for president of ASUU
I am so excited for him and wish him the best of luck
When I think about how stressed I am right now
I imagine how stressed he probably is, and I feel better
But since he has resigned from marketing director to run for president
guess whose the new marketing director in ASUU?

muah..

It's a really exciting to be offered such a great opportunity
And I love being in ASUU
But adding this on has made no time for anything else
Literally
I can't quit my job because I promised to be there to train a lady for the next six months
but I also have to commit 20 hours into ASUU
and I go to school full time.
It's already Tuesday and I think I might pass out
Thankfully I have so many people that are helping me out to handle all of this
my studly husband deep cleaned some of the house over the weekend
bless him..
The communications advisor in ASUU is taking a bigger load to help me out
I owe him big time
And Thomas and I have had enough extra money to eat out more
because of the lack of time to make food
this is a big deal!

It should even itself out next week
so I am looking forward to having enough extra time
to watch a episode or two of the Biggest Loser on Hulu
that show always gives me warm fuzzies inside

As busy as I seem now though...Ata has got to be swamped
My thoughts and sympathies go to ya bud!

I am now officially registered for Rock the U this year!!!

Rock the U is a fundrasier for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation

and all the money raised go towards cancer research

(thats right 100% to cancer research!)

But thats not the only reason why it's so great

did I mention it's a 13.1 hour dance marathon

yeah...

it's pretty legit

You have been quite an eventfully odd year

Here are some of the year's highlights and lowlights,

These are not in any particular order....mostly by oldest to newest

2. Keala got rejected in the Graphic Design program

4. On that same week Thomas didn't get elected Mayor of our apartments

5. Keala became the Associate Director of the Marketing board for ASUU

3. A handful of our friends got engaged and married

4. Keala got her first road bike

4. Keala got in her first near death experience on her new road bike

5. Thomas made it up and down Emigration Canyon in 51 minutes..a personal record

6. Keala finished her first triathlon

7. Thomas and Keala went on a road trip to Kansas City!

8. Keala changed to a photography and digital imaging major

9. Keala LOVES her new major!

10. Keala turns 21!

11. Thomas and Keala have the busiest semester of their lives

This Christmas rocked for multiple reasons

Reason #1I got this beauty under the tree :)

My husband pretty much rocks

I am seriously the luckiest girl in the world

I got him nice dress shirts w/ matching ties along with a 2 year subscription to the Econimist

but he totally won the best present ever award!

Reason #2On Christmas Eve we opened presents

made gingerbread houses

and ate some amazing food!

Reason #3 I got to hang out with my cute nieces and nephew

and I also got to witness the santa excitement from a child

nothing beats it.

This was my first attempt at

artsy/fashiony photography

overall it is a completely and totally different tone than the work I've been doing lately

but so much fun

these girls were fantastic models!

it was freezing cold during this shoot and they didn't complain at all

not to mention they are all so gorgeous

I have been dying to cut my hair in the past few weeks

but I can't

Sadly I have teflon efflivium (sp?)

which means my hair is thinning and falling out for a long period of time because of

stress and low iron in my blood

it totally sucks, my thick hair is gone

but that means in order to get my hair cut really short

and for it to look good

I need to wait for it to run it's course and wait for my hair to grow back

It's only just a phase no worries...

my hair will grow back just exactly how it was before

so I will get my thick hair back eventually

but it's a long cycle to wait through

Anyways I decided to just search for some potential hairstyles

and I have come up with these two

p.s. I did not choose this because I am obsessed with the Twilight movies

in fact the feeling is quite the opposite now...but it's a cute hairstyle

Rachel was my cheer coach when I was a sophmore in high school

since then she has gotten married

graduated from nursing school

Thomas' birthday was on Thanksgiving

so we decided to celebrate Wednesday night
It started off with a suprise massage which he has been dying to have for a while

Then we went to celebrate at Famous Dave's (great BBQ)

but the real winner of the night was my "handmade gift"

While Thomas was gone at his massage I did this....

I was going to do more but I ran out of time

and my hand hurt for cutting out all the hearts and writing them all down

Due to a Saturday only photo schedule slots are filling up fast for the year. If you want to get photos please email me to schedule a time.

Just some info about how the process is going to go...

Sessions for now are going to last for about two hours.
Two styles to choose from are landscape and urban (downtown & old buildings)
I do plan to shoot if it's raining so make sure to plan accordingly
You can have as many outfits as you choose as long as it fits within the time schedule
I do plan to have a website for you to look at your pictures in bulk but if I am unable to get that started I will send you a CD.

I am so happy that so many of you are willing to help me build my portfolio you guys are great!

So I finally made the trip to pictureline this week to figure out what camera I will be saving up for...and I have narrowed it down to these two.

The one on top is a Canon 60D and the one on the bottom is a Nikon D7000. I can't seem to decide on the two brands quite yet although I am leaning towards the Canon because the manual settings were so easy for me to manuever when I was in the store. However Nikons are so much better for studio which could save a lot of money in lighting in the future but...I just don't know!!

I actually wasn't able to try out the Nikon D7000 yet because it's technically not out. It should be within the next month or so but it is a semi-professional camera like the Canon 60D but of course for Nikon. But Nikon settings are pretty universal so I already have a pretty good idea on how the body will be set up.

Let me know if you have a preference or if you know any additional information on these camera's :)

{fall semester 2010}

Can't believe school has just started up again
But after being on a campus (and bus!)thats full of people was a wonderful sight
This semester is going to be busy for us here
Thomas is taking a full load of hard classes on top of working everyday
I got a lighter class load but packed work schedule and my ASUU duties as well
Speaking of ASUU
I LOVE it
Being in the Marketing Board is so busy but sooooo much fun
Not quite sure if Marketing is the exact path for me
But art that I create and see out in public for people to view is a cool feeling
It's a nice a nice break from classroom work...it's practically real life.

Also along the lines of school have I ever mentioned how gosh darn expensive it is
I am only taking two classes....and I have spent supplies enough for five!
Being a photo major is really expensive
When I checked out my photo supplies
I had a heart attack
and cried a little
hopefully in the end it's all worth it

So I realize it has been a while since my last post...my apologies. But this one won't be very long cuz I gots a busy day ahead of me.

ASUU is really kicking off now and I am back into deadline mode, but honestly it is so much fun so I don't mind at all!

Finished my triathlon class last week (thats my class in that photo)and tomorrow I try to destroy and conquor the Bountiful Triathlon...pray for me please....seriously.

Last saturday while going on a bike ride I rubbed a significant amount of skin completely raw and it has been difficult to do anything with it. It has finally started to heal but it will be a challenge tomorrow not to 1. rub it even further 2. and make a huge constant effort not to rub it making my form for running and biking terrible then 3. not to get it wet because it burns like crazy...which makes the swimming part of the triathlon a little sketchy. So I am completely serious when I mean pray for me tomorrow because I am kinda freaking out.

So I have lots to report about

First off the PINK collection from Victoria Secret has the BEST sweats. They are both cute and extremely comfortable, I am obsessed. They have a collegiate line and only two or so schools get added a year, I've been voting for the U of U and Utah State for years and I am pleased to annouce that they now have added the University of Utah to their collegiate line!!! Now I can get my favorite sweats with the U Of U logo and everything on them!!!

I am seriously so stoked about this! They have also added Ole Miss this year as well.

On to another note. I have now grown a great amount of respect for waterpolo players. Seriously they have one of the hardest sports in the world...how do I know this? Well for my triathlon class we decided to hold a waterpolo game for our last swim day of the session.

After ten minutes me and half of the class were about ready to die we were already so tired. Treading water, with a ball, swimming, blocking, throwing, all at once is EXTREMELY tiring. Now I have the highest respect for anybody that plays waterpolo....and now I am determined to get so good at swimming that when the moment comes to play waterpolo I am not hanging onto the sides every ten or so minutes.

Speaking of my triathlon class, it's getting a little bit rusty. I am improving in my swimming and biking but running is actually becoming more difficult to me day by day. I am getting more pains now that I run than I ever had before, it's really sucky! But I love swimming and biking now.

I have officially finished my finals for the first session of summer classes!! Yahoo! Now all I want to do for the next two days is nothing because for the past 6 weeks I have been reading (about 4 books I would say), writing papers, memorizing photographers, working, and trying to train for a triathlon all at once and it has been really tiring.

But before I do 'nothing' I must clean the house...

You know the feeling that your going to get sick but your not to the point where you can completely say that your sick but you know that your body hasn't completely won the battle yet? Well I've had that for the entire spring semester...and on Sunday my body finally decided that it would be sick!! It got worse as Sunday progressed so after sacrament meeting I came home and slept for HOURS! Sadly I had tons of family plans for Memorial day and couldn't do any of them because I wasn't able to physically do them or I didn't want to get anybody else sick. Major bummer!

But today I have been super productive and I was able to make it to my Photo History class, read 40+ pages for my class tomorrow, went for a light jog, took a shower, and posted my homework. Now I am about to start a paper all before my wonderful hubbie comes home from a long day at work. I love days where I get impossible amounts of stuff done all at once.

Well summer semester is in full swing, and many people would find that a drag but I actually love summer semester. First off not a whole lot of people are on campus, so going to campus on my bike is wonderful cuz now I don't have to worry about running into anybody or any car. Second it's fast pace giving me no time to really get bored of it or sick of the class, it's over in a blink! Third, slightly easier than fall and spring semesters, I think the teachers want a break in the summer too so they let us slide a bit.

One of the classes I am taking this semester is a triatholon training class. Let me tell you that it is the BOMB! I absolutly love it. Yeah I am not the best swimmer or the best runner and biker but I am having fun training with other people at my level and learn how to swim. It's already been two weeks and I can already feel an improvement on my swimming. I will be fit in no time!

We have one bit of dramatic news since last. I got in a bike accident that could have been extremely bad but actually turned out to be ok given the circumstances. Basically I am still getting use to a road bike so going down the road during rush hour and I decided to just cross at the crosswalk at the light up ahead but it was so congested up there that I tried to get onto the sidewalk early. Not remembering fully that I am on a road bike and not a commuter/mountain bike, I didn't take the slight level change into consideration and totally biffed it.....right in front of a car. Which oddly didn't see me crash in front of their car and kept going very slowly to try to merge into regular traffic. Thankfully she only got me stuck by running over my backpack that was on my back and my bike rack so neither myself or the bike got hurt but it was extremely traumatizing. Luckily two nurses popped out of a car to tail the other car down and to help me out with my cuts and scraps and with my mentality. I am grateful that angels were protecting me, because I was so close to death or being badly injured no joke. Someone is watching over me.

Last weekend Thomas and I had the awesome opportunity to take a road trip to Kansas City where he grew up.

It was a pretty awesome experience...
First off we woke up at 3 a.m., which is way to early but we were so excited that thankfully we weren't tired at all. While driving on I-80 we realized that there was a huge snow storm in Wyoming that they actually had to close it down. So by the time we got to Park City we decided that it probably wouldn't be worth going that way so we turned around and took I-70 instead which I am so grateful for.

One of my dad's friends was taking the same trip as us and had a really terrible time with traffic and weather while we had great weather the whole way through Colorado and Kansas. The hour detour of turning around was worth it.

Through this part of the trip Thomas and I observed that there are weird things in every state. Colorado has encouraging road signs and we even came to an exit called "No Name" and in Kansas there were signs about abortion everywhere and supposedly Kansas has the biggest praire dog in the world and a cow with multiple legs...we decided not to venture there. Once we got to Kansas City and got to witness an awesome lightning storm

While we were in Kansas City Thomas showed me his old houses and key spots of Kansas City which included some awesome forests. I also got to meet Thomas' friends and we got to hang out with the Pierce family a bunch! AND...on top of all of that amaziness I experienced the best BBQ I have ever tasted at Jack Stacks and some great asian food at Blue Koi..thank you to the Pierces for taking us there it was AMAZING. Thomas and I brought home four containers full of Jack Stack BBQ sauce. It is heaven.

Anyways the trip came to a close too soon and now we are back home in Salt Lake City going to school and back to normal life. Sadly I thought I took a bunch of pictures but I realized while going through my film that we don't have any pictures of the Pierce's or the amazing Jack Stack experience....only more excuses to go back ;)

Happy Mother's Day!!

Today was a particularly busy but good day. This morning while Thomas and I were listening to Music and the Spoken Word we made cards for the mom's in our lives. I drew my mom a picture that actually turned out not that bad, especially since I whipped it together in about a day.

After crafting together all of our presents we went to sacrament meeting and came home to get a head start in visiting, but Thomas and I have been so beat lately that we took a nap. We woke up with no time to visit anyone before dinner at my parents house, so we rushed to drop off everyone's cards and hurried on over to celebrate Mother's Day with my family and enjoying good food.

On a side note, I have taken SOO many naps lately. I am always tired, and it's frustrating. Although I do believe that finals week threw me way off my usual sleeping schedule...so maybe this is only temporary

Looking ahead. Thomas is finally taking me to Kansas City this week!!! He is going to show me the place that he grew up and his childhood friends, and introduce me to some good midwest BBQ. I am stoked. Then after our getaway school starts next week and it's back to a routine.

You know your an art student when...

You have debates with your classmates about whether performance art should be considered art
You use words like 'scale', 'movement', 'space', and 'representational.'
At least half of your class takes a smoke breaks half way through your three hour long classes
Your teacher takes a smoke break half way through your three hour long class
You try to explain your 3D assignment to your parents and friends and they don't get it
You tell people you are a sculpture/painting and drawing/photo major and they say, "oh, what are you going to do with that?"
You wear unisex clothes.
It doesn't phase you when you see a naked woman anymore.
It's the first class you've ever been early to, because you have to set up your project
You can find 'legit items' at the D.I.
At least two people in your class have the sides of their heads shaved
You know how to build stuff out of wood.
You and everyone else is wearing beanie hats.
You have at least two gay guys in your class

You haven't been in another building on campus all year.

This post is definitely happier than the last one...hallelujah!

Well I didn't get into the student art exhibit

but after seeing who got in over me

they were well deserved

I also didn't get Marketing Director

which I expected

I was against 5 people!

However, I was offered Thomas' old director position

and the Associate Director of Marketing

so after long consideration

I am pleased to annouce that I am the new

Associate Director for Marketing

in ASUU 2010-2011

Anyways like expected with the sunny weather

my attitude and point of view have been well...

bad news april

WARNING: to those of you who do not want to read a sad and slightly depressing blog post read no further from this point. Those of you who dare..you've been warned.

If I could sum up the past week in a few words I would say this.....worst week of our lives.

It first started off with Thomas losing the Mayor election for Resident Council, even though we are happy for Eric everyone can attest it is not a fun to recieve an email that says you lost. Which left for a long night of no sleep and comforting. The next day I find out that the program that I've worked an entire year and a half for to get into rejected me, I have never felt so heartbroken in my life. When I read my rejection letter I literally heard my heart snap in half.

Thankfully Thomas and I fasted and prayed the day before all of this happened to prepare us to handle any outcome that may come our way. Thomas was able to get over his defeat overnight to help dry my tears over an entire weekend. He is my knight in shining armor because I wouldn't have been able to go through with this without him.

A good thing that happened the day after was the Spring Carnival that Thomas was incharge of throwing for the entire village and west side of Salt Lake City. He had a big turn out but the event had its bumps with the fire alarm going off and it being freezing outside, but everyone that went said that had a great time and I really think it was a success.

However after that day my failure kept getting rubbed into my face the Monday I went to school to find out that everyone in my classes that applied for the program got in..which didn't make sense to me since I felt like I had an equally strong if not stronger portfolio then them. On top of that, in hopes to recieve a critique from the judges to have them tell me what worked and what didn't work for my piece, they told me the statistics and the percentage of getting in this year...which made me feel worse because the number of rejected people was low.

I am trying so hard not to be bitter but it is difficult and I feel that I am doomed to failure. I attempted to be in an art exhibit next week..I find out if I made it tomorrow and I am also trying to get Marketing Director. And I can't help but feel that I need to assume that I'm going to be rejected.

Anyways Conference really helped me out a bunch to not be so angry at the situation. It was one of the best conferences I've ever watched.

the week of all weeks

This week is a big week for us here

I turn in my portfolio that I've been working on for an entire year to the graphic design program, and then I find out on friday if after a year of re-doing their classes if I get into their program...pray for me, send positive thoughts, cross your fingers, ANYTHING!!

Thomas is running for Mayor for the University Villages. We've put up and made what feels like hundreds and hundreds of signs, and there is paint and glue all over our apartment because of it. He's been wanting to run for mayor since mid fall semester so it's nice to actually put that into action. Remember to vote April 1st!!!

Then I've also decided to try and run for director of marketing for ASUU. It would be an awesome experience for my future field and would also help me add to my portfolio in the future. Not to mention it would help with the budget a little bit.

I thought this moment would never come...SPRING BREAK! I am honestly so excited I can hardly stand it. The freedom to stay up til midnight and sleep in til nine is amazing!

For the break we are going to be in Midway the majority of the time. My wonderful father-in-law is helping me put my portfolio together and Thomas is watching all of the manly edited movies he's always wanted to watch.

So far I've completed two drawings and all I need to do now is touch up a little here and a little there on my pieces to make them scream to the portfolio judges, "Put this girl in!"

It will be nice to not go to school but it will still be a busy busy week.

March has been a crazy month full of ups and downs. School is pretty much the only downer of March, I have lost drive and inspiration to go and lately I am not enjoying any of my classes. It's also hard to concentrate on school when my graphic design portfolio is due at the end of the month. A whole year's worth of re-doing school all comes down to this, so it's a pretty big deal. Trying to put that together and work on school is just not mixing well.

But with all of that on top of work, it has been soo stressful. I haven't made it to church in about 3 weeks because I have either felt sick from all the stress or working on my portfolio frantically trying to get it done.

Thankfully I got to hangout with my close friends from high school on saturday for a bridal shower. It was really nice to see everyone again and for such a wonderful couple. They are so in love and it's so awesome to watch them together.

Anyways the next two weeks it's crunch time.

I have an exam on Thursday and a lit review due the week after spring break which means I have to get it partly done this week. And I have two projects I need to work on for my classes and then work on my portfolio on the side re-doing and re-touching it to make it look awesome!

If you feel so inclined as to send positive thoughts my way...I would not object and greatly appreciate it.

Rock the U...success!

Thomas and I have officially survived Rock the U and I must say it was an absolutely wonderful experience and the event raised over $41,000 dollars towards cancer research. I would like to thank everyone who donated and helped make this possible!

The 26.2 hours was filled with dancing, games, and a whole lot of fun!! Although when Thomas and I woke up this morning, we couldn't move..and slept for about 14 hours. I think it will take me about a week to recover since I have never been this sore in my ENTIRE life. Literally every part of my body hurts, but it was totally worth it !

spring semester blues

I must say that this is the first semester that I wasn't anxious or ready for. Already today for my first class I contemplated skipping it to sleep in and I even fell asleep in one of my classes!!! Thats not a good sign! It's also no good that I already have homework and just want to sleep all the time.
People keep telling me that I am going to miss going to school once I'm not in school...but I think they just tell me that to make me feel better. I appreciate the effort though :)
I think the weather might have something to do with it. My mood tends to reflect the weather, most of today it was smoggy and grey and hazy..and thats how I felt. I am definatley not a winter person. However I am looking forward to spring and the pink popcorn trees, they are my favorite!
On a lighter note I got to walk home from work today and I got to see the the beautiful pink sunset. Tender mercy at work right there. ♥

Welcome to the New Year!

I was going to make a blog for my new years resolution but then I decided that I could just do it on here, so I deleted it.
This year I am calling my goal a year of improvement:spiritually and physically. Basically I am going to eat healthy and excercise regularly, taking care of my body and to do everything the church wants me to do for an entire year. Now I know that last one may sound like I am inactive but that is not the case. When I say everything..I mean EVERYTHING! For example, read scriptures, go to the entire 3 hour block of church (unless I'm sick of course), do 100% on my callings, do my visiting teaching every month, FHE, 72 food storage, etc....
It's a big challenge but I am pumped and ready! I will let you know my progress

One Year Anniversary!

On Saturday, Thomas and I celebrated our one year anniversary! It's so crazy to think that we've been married for a year now. My how time flies

We started out the morning by going to a temple session, and also saying congrats to all the couples getting married that day. Then we took a pause and I headed up to Midway for my sister-in-laws baby shower, which was awesome!
Once I got back Thomas and I went to see New Moon, it was an ok movie. Way better than the first one, and it gave me a couple of laughs. Afterwards we came home to candles everywhere and delicious dinner! Thanks to Spencer and Jessica who helped Thomas out on that! It was a perfect day

This semester has been crazy and I am happy it's about to come to an end. Although I have never been so nervous about finals ever! This entire week I've had a constant pit in my gut that I cannot wait to have relieved soon. Finals for me has been extended for an extra week, because my art projects are all due this week but all of my general finals are officially next week! I am going to be super busy.
Thank goodness Thomas and I were able to put all of our Christmas decorations up before finals, it gives us something enjoyable to look at while we study, and reminds me that something fabulous is coming right behind the corner. It has been helping me get through it all to look at something pretty.

Also I have decided that we are going to do a Christmas card this year!!! I put it all together and I am very excited! I just hope I can get them out and to everyone before Christmas! haha. Anyways if anybody wants one just message me your address to get one.

Oh my! This week has been so eventful, not even a dull moment.
Thomas and I both are starting to get ready for finals so we have been sooo busy studying and me finishing projects.
Wednesday was Thomas' 23rd birthday!! I made him breakfast and while I went to work he went to school to take a midterm, later we had some of his close friends join us for dinner at cafe rio and then came back and played games!
This thanksgiving was the best thanksgiving day I've ever had.
We started off the day with my parents, going to breakfast at cracker barrel, grabbing some old time candy and spent the afternoon with them watching the movie 'the blind side.' The movie was awesome and really put me in a holiday mood. Then we hurried home to make green beans and head to the in-laws place for our BIG thanksgiving dinner and talent show. Thomas and I brought the house down with a lip sync to the backstreet boys and then had amazing food!!! Tons of leftovers and great family time. I really felt so blessed yesterday for the amazing families that I have!
Then last but not least, this morning for black friday my family and I all woke up at 3 and helped empty out many stores in the salt lake valley. haha not really but we went to so many! First off we hit Old Navy for some jeans and sweaters, then I went to Target to get Thomas some of his christmas presents. Next we hit Walmart where I needed to get a new vaccum (ours broke), and that was insane, I don't think I will ever try going there again. Last but not least we went to Michaels where I got some art supplies and christmas decor!!
I got home and took a 3 hour nap while Thomas took out all of our Christmas stuff.
We wanted to make sure we got it out before Finals so that it helps put us in a better spirit!

old friends

One of my best friends/cheer partner from high school got home from his mission in Argentina last week and I am so excited he is home! I got to visit him the day he got back and he hasn't changed a bit, he is adjusting to home life very well, except he keeps talking in spanish accidently. It's great to have an old friend back

This year was my first halloween of what I would call "inactiveness" I didn't buy or make a costume at all because all the halloween parties that were around were all taking place while I was working. Which isn't so bad since I couldn't figure out really what I wanted to be anyways.

Halloween day also had a slow start for us since Thomas and I both had to work the majority of the day. But happily we spent halloween night with our fellow Utes at the Blackout football game. It was actually a lot of fun, I was standing next to a guy dressed up as Billy Idol.

I also had to draw a halloween portrait for my 2-d class and I am really proud with how it turned out, so I decided to show it off just a tad.

I hope everyone had a happy and fun halloween!

Since I have been sick this entire fall break I decided to give my blog a face lift and catch up! And since my last blog not a whole lot has happened but there is definietley some news.

My old roommate from Utah State finally got baptized! She has been planning this for years and I am so happy for her! The baptism was awesome, the spirit was so strong in the room. And I have never seen so many people attend a baptism in my life, the girl is loved! It also gave me an excuse to go up to Logan, and it was really great to see the whole gang back together again.

Also speaking of roommates, my other old roommate just got engaged!!

The only other news I have is that Thomas and I have been sick this entire week, which has its up's and it's down's. The up's...it is fall break so we don't have to miss any school and the down's...it prevents us from having any plans for the fall break. But what can ya do?

Saturday I went to my first U of U football game as a student and we played Utah State (what are the odds!). I even got thomas to come with me and we had a lot of fun. Sadly our seats are super far away but it ended up not being so bad after all because we could see absolutely everything and even everyone at the top with us were loud and crazy. I feel like this will be a good year.

This match up is always going to be memorable for me and it especially was this year because last year when the U of U was playing at Utah State for football, Thomas was getting ready to propose to me in my apartment. And I had my whole family up (in utah state t-shirts might I add) and my best friend Jaime was able to come up before the special moment. So it's almost been a year ago since Thomas proposed to me. I can't even believe it! It seems like it was so long ago! And now this football match up is always going to have a place in my heart.

And it does help that now I am cheering for the winning team. :)

Welcome Back to School

Summer has now officially been taken over. School has begun!! And I can honestly say I have been looking forward to this day all summer.....so sad. I remember back in the day where summers were a happy long vacation, however like a wise man once said "With great power, comes great responsibility," so with the power of adulthood and a free summer, came the responsibility of working full time. Now I am feeling like what I am doing now has a purpose, and it's a powerful feeling.

Some also good news (but late) our friends Jesse and Camille got married, and so did our other friends Daniel and Christine. The weddings were beautiful and I am so happy for both of them.

Tomorrow I am going to my first U of U football game as an official U of U student, I am so excited. Hopefully I will take pictures so that all of you can see how truly excited I am for this :)

Master Cleanse Fail

Well I learned the hard way that the Master Cleanse Diet does not work when you take Birth Control Pills, but before I get to that I will enlighten everyone on what I learned in the one day that my body could take this.

First, I didn't realize that eating is sometimes more of a habit. I was never hungry the entire day, but mentally I needed food for certain types of comfort. For example, when I get home from my sucky job I like to eat a bowl of cereal, which I realized yesterday that I never ate the cereal because I was hungry. I ate it because in my mind I needed to have that as a pick me up to go through the rest of my day.Or when things just sound good, like yesterday it just sounded good in my mind to have a subway sandwich, and my mind told me I needed it but my stomatch was saying no I am satisified.
It was an awesome realization, and makes me want to eat healthier.

Second, honestly at the end of the day was feeling pretty darn good. My back wasn't shore for the first time in forever and neither was my neck, and after that I was feeling so excited to feel the rest of the benefits that come with this diet.

However all of this came to a quick hault when I took my daily dose of Baby Prevention Pills. I forgot that they HIGHLY reccommend that you do not take these on an empty stomatch, and within 30 minutes of taking them I felt really really sick. This time though I couldn't handle it and spent the next 2 hours puking pretty much nothing cuz all I've had all day is liquid.

Sadly that is why I cannot do this diet, and now I am way bummed because I was so excited to see if I could do this as a personal challenge to myself to get started on trying to be more healthier.

So today I started the Master Cleanse Diet. Which means for the next 10 days I will be drinking a combination of Lemon juice, Maple Syrup, Cayenne Pepper, and Water. I read that doing a Cleanse is great for the body but a hard mental challenge, so without much thought about it I all of a sudden decided that I am going to do it! And with that I will blog every single day about my progress about how I feel and what not.

Right now I am sitting at my desk at work drinking my juice and I have already made a note to myself to not put too much Cayenne Pepper in with my juice tomorrow. It has way too much of a kick and I am almost dreading each sip I have to take. And I can tell my body is in a bit of shock because everytime I drink a significant amount I can feel my stomatch getting a little angry at me.

happy pioneer day

Oh how I love holidays!! Not only is there no work or school, but a day designated for one to celebrate something meaningful. Although I will admit Pioneer day has not been a huge holiday for my family in the past (even though we have lived in Utah my whole life), which I believe is because all of my ancestors came on boats, and didn't cross the plains to create civilized territory in a desert. However this year I created my first attempt to celebrate Pioneer Day, not in any traditional way (although I am working up to that) but I did do something festive and I feel very proud and accomplished for doing so.
To celebrate Pioneer Day, Thomas and I attended a Bees Game (Baseball). And even though Thomas and I are not huge baseball fans, we thought to ourselves what is more American than watching an American sport. The bummer was that the Bees actually didn't end up playing because their opposing team wussed out. But we got to see an all-star homerun contest as well as a high school allstar league play. Then it concluded with the most beautiful display of fireworks that I have ever seen in my entire life. And on top of that, because the game had to be posponed to a later date, we got 4 extra tickets for free to a Bees Game, 2 preseason tickets to a Jazz game, and another 2 tickets to a race track. Now for a newlywed married couple going to college, that is the BEST free dates ever!! Then even on top of that I actually enjoyed watching baseball even though previously I was not a fan.
So to sum it all up I got some of my favorite things all in one day, #1 Spending time with my hubbie :) #2 Watching a sporting event #3 Getting free stuff and #4 watching something beautiful (fireworks)

HAPPY PIONEER DAY

I have two things I want to rant about and the first one will be about

BAD DRIVING

When it comes to driving on the freeway I would say that I am a cautious driver. Someone once told me that if you assume that everyone is an idiot on the road then you will be just fine. Well it has now come to the point where I almost feel that this statement is more true than ever. It has happened where about once a month I almost get hit because someone is not paying attention to their blindspot and start moving on over to my lane...but don't realize that I am right there. Luckily I haven't been hit yet but now I am so paranoid that I am almost terrified to pass people at all!! And another thing, I believe it is good driver etiquette that when someone cuts you off (for example during rush hour traffic, that is a popular one) that they should put the hand up to say thanks, because you just made way to them even though you didn't have to and that both of you are in the same rush as everyone. But it bothers me so much when they assume that your a nice person, cut you off, and then no hand to acknowledge your kindness, especially when your in the " I just got off work I want to get home" mood (which everyone is in during rush hour). So out of all this I hope everyone learns to watch the blindspot and give a nice hand wave if someone lets you into traffic, things are just so much better if you do those things.

CONSTRUCTION!

Since I have been driving it seems like there is something always wrong with the roads, so there is a lot of construction. It didn't really bother me until I started going to college and I had to pass it all the time, in two different areas. And the worse part is that once they are done with one part of the road they make you happy and excited, but they move on to another part of the road just 10 miles away. I always think its funny that they do these sorts of things to put roads in better condition which I understand, and to ease traffic jams which everyone I believe is a fan of. But they cause more traffic jams, and they take FOREVER to get done. It is such a bother....but unfortunatley necessary for the growing of the world we live in.

ANYWAYS this was just a rant. I feel much better now that I have that out

Happy day, the sun is out and it is finally warm here in Utah!
On top of that I am done with my spring semester at the U of U
I just finished my finals this week and I feel like a free woman
too bad I start working full time right on monday
but I will embrace the time I have to let my hair down
and dance in front of the mirror with a brush in my hand

Now I am gearing myself up for summer semester...YAY!
and I am praying that I do not have to retake my math class

Mothers day is just around the corner, and for Mother's day weekend
my mom decided to treat herself to a disneyland get-a-way
with her friends...she has already texted me twice
telling me all the fun she's having, and the rides she's been on

Other great news! My family got yet ANOTHER dog
she is adorable and I love her to pieces
